Riyadh Qaed Saif Al-Mahir is a researcher specializing in microbiology and molecular biology, with a strong focus on emerging environmental contaminants and their impacts. He is currently a researcher in the Department of Cell Science and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Marine Science and Environment, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). Al-Mahir has extensive expertise in advanced laboratory techniques for analyzing microorganisms and environmental pollution, as well as distinguished skills in molecular biology techniques, which are essential for studying emerging pollutants. His research primarily explores the role of microbial enzymes in degrading organic pollutants, aiming to develop biotechnological solutions for environmental remediation. His work contributes to biowaste treatment, pollutant removal from water and soil, and assessing the impact of microorganisms on ecosystem balance. Additionally, Al-Mahir investigates genetic factors influencing microbial virulence and their role in disease transmission and antibiotic resistance. He has participated in advanced training programs in molecular diagnostics and environmental monitoring, including: Molecular Taxonomy and DNA Barcoding, ELISA Analysis, Forensic DNA Analysis.
The Arab Network for Addressing Emerging Environmental Pollutants (EPN) is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the environmental challenges related to emerging pollutants in the Arab region through enhancing regional and international cooperation and providing sustainable solutions.
