Welcome to the official website of the Arab Network for Addressing Emerging Environmental Pollutants (EPN)
“The first professional membership in the Arab region specialized in emerging pollutants“
The Arab Network for Addressing Emerging Environmental Pollutants (abbreviated as “EPN”) is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the environmental challenges related to emerging pollutants in the Arab region through enhancing regional and international cooperation and providing sustainable solutions. It offers training with accredited hours through the Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (crcCARE) in Australia. These hours can be used to obtain professional membership from the Arab Science and Technology Foundation.
Together towards a collective initiative for a safer and more sustainable environment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
EPN seeks to leverage the expertise and passion of skilled professionals, enabling them to contribute directly to finding solutions for eliminating emerging pollutants in Arab countries. This path is dedicated to individuals specialized in critical fields to enhance the ability to address emerging pollutants.
“The network aims to be a center of excellence, bringing together skilled experts to develop sustainable solutions for emerging environmental pollutants.”
The network is committed to supporting efforts to address emerging environmental pollutants in the Arab region by providing sustainable solutions through a team of specialized experts
The Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit international regional organization. It was founded by a group of scientists and researchers from both within and outside the Arab world, along with representatives from Arab and international scientific centers. The ASTF is based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and has several links in various Arab countries and capitals, including Cairo, Baghdad, Amman, Tunis, Morocco, Libya, and Sudan.
The idea of establishing the Arab Science and Technology Foundation originated from a recommendation made by the participants of the seminar “Prospects of Scientific Research and Technological Development in the Arab World,” organized by the University of Sharjah on April 24-26, 2000. The seminar was attended by 375 researchers from within and outside the Arab world. In the final session of the seminar, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, announced the foundation of the organization. Its Board of Directors and Advisory Council include a distinguished group of Arab scientists with exceptional achievements and global recognition.
The Arab Science and Technology Foundation is the first organization to bring together Arab scientists from both within and outside the Arab world with the aim of benefiting from local Arab expertise and that of the Arab diaspora to serve the Arab world and humanity. This initiative responds to the general desire for individuals to stay close to their roots and the deep longing of scientists in the diaspora to partially compensate their home countries for the loss incurred due to their migration abroad. Therefore, the foundation aims to be an influential Arab international body that supports Arab scientists and researchers and advocates for the Arab region’s interests in scientific and technological advancement while working to safeguard humanity from potential negative impacts of scientific and technological progress.
The foundation seeks to represent the interests of many young Arabs who share strong bonds through common language, history, and traditions, spread across vast and contiguous geographical areas extending from the western coast of Africa on the Atlantic Ocean to the shores of the Arabian Peninsula on the Arabian Gulf, passing through the Mediterranean Sea. Thus, the Arab Science and Technology Foundation reflects the aspirations of young Arabs to reclaim their historical role in enriching the field of science and technology globally. The foundation also reflects efforts to develop national programs and projects capable of accommodating the technological advancements of the 21st century, positively engaging with the experiences of scientific development in both the East and West.
