EPN-Podcast

The Arab Network for Emerging Environmental Pollutants (EPN) has announced the launch of its new Arabic awareness podcast, “Ma‘a Al-Bi’ah (With the Environment)”, a specialized program dedicated to shedding light on contemporary environmental issues that directly affect the daily lives and health of people across the Arab world.

The podcast focuses on the complex relationship between environment, public health, and human well-being, addressing critical topics related to water quality, food safety, air pollution, and emerging environmental contaminants that often go unnoticed but pose long-term risks.

Bridging science and society

“Ma‘a Al-Bi’ah” is designed as a knowledge-based dialogue platform where experts are interviewed, scientific studies are analyzed, and complex environmental concepts are explained in clear and accessible language. The podcast seeks to uncover so-called “silent environmental threats”—pollutants that cannot be seen or smelled, yet are increasingly present in everyday life and ecosystems.

Through evidence-based discussions, the podcast aims to translate scientific research into practical understanding, helping listeners grasp how environmental pollution affects personal and community health.

Why this podcast?

In light of the growing environmental challenges in the Arab region and the emergence of pollutants that are not adequately monitored by traditional systems, EPN launched “Ma‘a Al-Bi’ah” as a platform for awareness, advocacy, and policy-relevant dialogue.

The podcast raises critical and often overlooked questions, including:

  • Is drinking water truly safe?
  • What hidden contaminants exist in our food supply?
  • How can we protect children from pollutants that are invisible and odorless?
  • Do governments have effective national strategies to address emerging environmental risks?

Target audience

“Ma‘a Al-Bi’ah” is intended for a broad and influential audience, including:

  • Policymakers and decision-makers in environment, water, health, and agriculture sectors
  • Researchers and specialists in emerging environmental pollutants
  • Environmental journalists and media professionals
  • Members of the public seeking to understand how environmental quality impacts everyday health

Key topics covered

Each episode focuses on a specific high-priority issue, such as:

  • PFAS – “Forever Chemicals”
  • Microplastics in food and drinking water
  • Indoor air pollution
  • Wastewater reuse in agriculture
  • Environmental policies and national response frameworks

A commitment to environmental awareness

EPN emphasized that “Ma‘a Al-Bi’ah” represents a core component of its mission to promote environmental literacy, strengthen the link between science and policymaking, and empower Arab communities with reliable, evidence-based environmental knowledge.

By fostering informed dialogue, the podcast seeks to contribute to health protection, sustainable development, and environmental resilience across the Arab region.
