An Associate Professor in Microbial Biotechnology, specializing in emerging environmental pollutants and microbial bioremediation. He obtained his Ph.D. from the National University of Malaysia (UKM), ranked 113th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025. Dr. Al-Shorgani’s research focuses on developing microbial systems for environmental pollutant treatment and biofuel production, with extensive studies on producing biobutanol and biohydrogen as sustainable energy alternatives that reduce reliance on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. He also investigates the interaction between microbes and environmental pollutants, which allows for their use in bioremediation to clean polluted environments. Dr. Al-Shorgani participates in collaborative research projects and is working on innovative solutions for pollution control. He served as an Ambassador for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) from 2022 to 2024, contributing to international collaboration in microbiology and environmental sciences. Through his pioneering research, active participation in the scientific community, and publications in prestigious scientific journals, Dr. Al-Shorgani is a prominent figure in microbial biotechnology, environmental sustainability, and the development of eco-friendly technologies.
The Arab Network for Addressing Emerging Environmental Pollutants (EPN) is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the environmental challenges related to emerging pollutants in the Arab region through enhancing regional and international cooperation and providing sustainable solutions.
