EPN announced the near completion of its second regional technical report, focusing on micro- and nanoplastics pollution in the Arab region.
The report is the product of collaboration among more than 20 Arab researchers representing diverse fields, including marine sciences, freshwater systems, soil contamination, and environmental health. It provides an integrated regional assessment of plastic particle pollution, methodological challenges, and research gaps.
Unlike earlier fragmented studies, the report aims to present a unified Arab scientific perspective, offering standardized definitions, analytical comparisons, and policy-relevant recommendations. It is expected to support national plastic management strategies, environmental monitoring programs, and regional action plans.
The Arab Network for Addressing Emerging Environmental Pollutants (EPN) is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the environmental challenges related to emerging pollutants in the Arab region through enhancing regional and international cooperation and providing sustainable solutions.
