The Arab Network for Emerging Environmental Pollutants (EPN) has officially launched its Network Portfolio, a comprehensive reference document that presents the Network’s vision, strategic objectives, governance structure, and core programs at both regional and international levels.

The launch of the portfolio marks an important institutional milestone for EPN, providing stakeholders, partners, and decision-makers with a clear and consolidated overview of the Network’s role as a leading Arab platform addressing emerging environmental pollutants through science, policy engagement, and professional capacity building.

A comprehensive institutional reference

The Network Portfolio outlines EPN’s strategic framework, highlighting its commitment to tackling priority environmental challenges under the One Health approach, which recognizes the interconnectedness of environmental integrity, human health, and sustainable development.

The document details EPN’s core areas of work, including:

• Capacity building and professional training programs
• Scientific and technical advisory services
• Regional and international research collaboration
• Policy-relevant scientific reporting and guidance
• Professional membership and accreditation pathways

It also defines the Network’s thematic focus areas, notably per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), microplastics and nanoplastics, pharmaceutical and personal care product residues, and pollutants affecting water, air, and soil systems.

Professional Membership Program (EvPT)

A key component of the portfolio is the presentation of EPN’s Professional Membership Program for Emerging Environmental Pollutants Experts (EvPT). The portfolio explains the membership categories, evaluation pathways, training requirements, and professional development opportunities designed to strengthen recognition and competency among practitioners and researchers in this specialized field.

Governance, partnerships, and achievements

The portfolio also documents EPN’s governance structure, advisory committees, and institutional partnerships with Arab and international universities, research centers, and organizations. In addition, it highlights the Network’s major achievements, including scientific webinars, technical reports, periodic newsletters, international conference participation, and public outreach initiatives such as the “With the Environment” podcast.

Strategic tool for engagement and collaboration

EPN emphasized that the Network Portfolio serves as a strategic communication and engagement tool, supporting transparency, institutional credibility, and partnership development. It is intended to facilitate collaboration with governments, academia, donors, and international organizations, while clearly articulating EPN’s value proposition and areas of impact.

The Network noted that the launch of the portfolio reinforces its mission to unify Arab expertise, strengthen evidence-based environmental decision-making, and contribute to regional and global efforts to address emerging environmental pollutants and protect public health.
