AMSTRO (Asia and Middle East Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology) is dedicated to advancing high-quality, equitable cancer care across Asia and the Middle East through innovation, collaboration, and education. The society focuses on transforming cancer care in the region through collaborative workshops, conferences, and professional development initiatives.
Affiliated with ASTF and headquartered in Sharjah, UAE, AMSTRO brings together radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, clinical oncologists, surgical oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists to work together towards improving patient outcomes and closing the cancer care gap in the region.

Dr. Layth Mula-Hussain earned his medical degree from the University of Mosul in Iraq and began clinical oncology training in 2002. He later completed a radiation oncology residency at King Hussein Cancer Center in Jordan, an M.Sc. in advanced oncology at Ulm University in Germany, and four years of clinical fellowships in Canada. He is a lifetime ESTRO Fellow, an IAHPC Member, an ESCO Graduate, and a Certified Clinical Investigator.
With over 25 years in medicine—mainly in radiation oncology—Dr. Mula-Hussain has held consultant roles at top cancer centers in Jordan, Iraq, Oman, and Canada. He is currently an attending physician and assistant professor at BC Cancer Agency and the University of British Columbia in Canada, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh's Regional Adviser for Eastern Canada, and a visiting professor at Ninevah University in Iraq. He also leads the global Ethics-Guided Radiation Therapy (EGRT) initiative launched in 2024.
Notably, he was the founding director of Iraq's first radiation oncology certification board (2013–2017), contributed to IAEA missions in Pakistan, Syria and Iraq, served on ASCO's International Affairs Steering Committee, and reviewed IAEA's radiation oncology education curriculum. He has authored over 100 publications and delivered more than 100 presentations.

Dr. Issa Mohamad is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist and Associate Member at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Jordan. He completed a prestigious clinical and research fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto's Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
At KHCC, Dr. Mohamad serves as the Lead of the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team and the Director of the Radiation Oncology Fellowship Program, where he plays a key role in clinical leadership and medical education. In addition to his institutional responsibilities, Dr. Mohamad actively leads and contributes to several international, national, and institutional committees, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field of radiation oncology both regionally and globally.
His subspecialty expertise includes Head and Neck cancers, gastrointestinal malignancies, and extracranial stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). Dr. Mohamad's research interests are aligned with his clinical focus. He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and continues to make significant contributions to the academic and clinical advancement of the field.

Eng. Ahmed Alhammadi is Chair of the Youth Council (YC-ASTF), a network of the Arab Science & Technology Foundation (ASTF), and an Industrial Engineer at Sharjah Maritime Academy (SMA).
He has led the Council since its launch in February 2026 and serves in the Office of the President. He set the Council's vision and governance and built its youth volunteer team. He also helped develop the Foundation's reference standards for websites and email. His work at ASTF is voluntary.
At SMA, he coordinates workshop development with academic and technical teams. He prepared safety work instructions for 62 machines across the Academy's workshops. At the University of Sharjah, he led his senior design project team on electrocoagulation-ozone wastewater treatment; the innovation behind it won 1st place at the Think Science Competition.
